“The Grace of God that Brings Salvation”

FOCUS (the core of the content to be communicated)

I’ve mentioned before a book called “The God They Never Knew” by George Otis, Jr. In its first printing, a lot of people mistook it to a book about reaching unreached people groups. In its second printing, the front cover was covered with many of the images people sometimes attach to Christianity — a gospel tract, a “God Loves You” bumper sticker, a rosary, a cross necklace, a Bible, etc. The author wanted to be sure people knew it was about the tragedy of professing faith in God without truly knowing God. This second printing included this qualifying subtitle: “The Tragedy of Religion Without Relationship.” (Matthew 7:21-23 affirms the tragedy.)

May this message cause each one of us to do a reality check. May we who are His be strengthened in our faith & may those who aren’t yet His see the reality of where they are without Him. And may the grace that brings salvation be theirs today.

The grace of God that brings salvation …

1. is accompanied by new & different behaviors & beliefs.

True salvation produces a lifesaving “no” & a life-giving “yes.” - Titus 2:11-14 (Ephesians 2:10)

2. is verified by those new & different behaviors & beliefs.

Someone who knows God shows God by the life they live. - Titus 1:1&16 (Romans 6:1-4)

1] Do you see the importance of knowing what & who to say yes & no to?

2] Can you identify these new & different behaviors & beliefs in your life?

Action Step

Read Titus chapters one & two back to back twice. Having read them twice

in one sitting, write a note of response & then a prayer of commitment to God.
